Installing any type of security or safety system is a wise decision but the system will not be anywhere near as effective if it is not consistently maintained. Sadly, there are a lot of businesses and homeowners that don’t see the importance of maintenance and worry that this will simply be another monthly outgoing that they could do without. But in reality, this should be seen as a wise investment that protects you and your property.
Why Is Maintenance So Important?
Our maintenance services ensure that you can sit back and relax while we take care of everything else. Whether it is keyholding, emergency response, CCTV monitoring or anything else, keeping your equipment in full working order is one of the most important aspects of owning a system like this. Once your equipment is installed, we offer a maintenance contract that ensures any issues are quickly tended to and you are aware of any replacements or repairs that need doing well in advance. We believe that system maintenance should be one of your highest priorities.
Protect Your Assets
One of the main reasons that many people choose to install a fire or security system within their business or domestic property is to avoid their precious assets being damaged or stolen. This is especially true for things that don’t hold much monetary value but the sentimental value is priceless. If your system isn’t in full working order, there is a risk of it failing but this is not something you will ever be aware of if the system is left to run unmaintained.
Through regular maintenance, you can have the peace of mind that your assets are always protected without having to find out due to a system failure that doesn’t alert you to a break-in or other emergency.
Reduces The Long-Term Cost Of Breakdown And Failure
Not only this but if you leave your system unmaintained for a very long period of time, there is a chance that any minor repairs will turn into major repairs. This can leave you with a hefty bill and there is nothing to say that this won’t be a recurring issue. But with a maintenance team on hand, you will never need to worry about surprise costs.
What’s more, with regular maintenance checks scheduled, you won’t need to worry about scheduling an emergency appointment or being caught in a tight spot.
Cost Effectiveness
A lot of people turn their noses up at having to pay an additional fee for a maintenance contract but when you think about the cost of replacing part of your system, or even the system in its entirety, it isn’t difficult to see which is the preferable option.
You may think that taking out a maintenance contract is just something else that you need to pay but over the course of time, it is far more cost effective. Moreover, with everything that is included in the contract, it is unlikely that you will ever have to plough any additional money into your system after the initial installation.
Maintain Warranties
BAC Fire and Security is proud to offer a very fair and clear warranty policy that gives our clients peace of mind. One of the biggest benefits of using our maintenance service is that your system will always remain within the boundaries of the warranty.
As with anything, there are limitations that come into play when using your warranty and in some cases, things like user error or environmental damage will void the warranty meaning that you have to fork out for the repairs yourself. Now of course, we do everything we can to provide you with an excellent service and a no-quibble warranty but when factors are outside of our control, this cannot be helped.
But when you have regular maintenance checks and work, this will ensure that the system won’t fail through such errors meaning that your warranty is far better protected allowing you to use it when you require.
How Will System Maintenance Benefit Me?
As well as being a very important part of owning a security or fire system, there are many other reasons that this service will be advantageous to you. With benefits ranging from improved insurance costs to optimal protection for your property and anyone who enters it, it seems that maintaining your system is something of a no-brainer.
Lower Insurance
Insurance companies operate on a risk basis and the more of a risk you are to them, the higher your monthly or annual payments will be. Moreover, this could bump up the excess you are expected to pay when making a claim. Of course, no home or business owner wants to have to claim on their insurance policy and this is likely one of the reasons you have had a system installed in the first instance.
That said, simply having an alarm or fire system in place isn’t enough; your insurance company needs to know that the system is in good working order and will prevent incidents effectively. If you can demonstrate to your insurance provider that you have your system regularly maintained, this may be rewarded with lower monthly premiums.
Compliance
If you are running a commercial property then you have a responsibility to anyone who works at or uses your business. This means that you have to comply with certain rules and regulations, many of which centre around having fully operational security and fire alert systems.
In the event that anything did happen, you would need to be able to prove that you did everything possible to avoid the event. This is especially important if you ever find yourself in a legal battle or disagreement with a client or employee.
By having your systems regularly maintained, you will always have confidence that the system complies with regulations and you won’t be faced with any nasty surprises.
Protecting Your Property And Those Who Live And Work In It
As we have discussed already, you have a responsibility to anyone who comes into your property, whether that is a commercial or residential building. When people come into your home or business, they want to feel safe and secure and having fully operational security or fire system in place will give them that reassurance.
You will also be able to rest easy knowing that your family, friends, clients and coworkers are all fully protected. By allowing us to regularly maintain your system, you will never have to worry about being caught out which could result in an accident, injury or worse.
Reduce Your Ongoing Costs
While there is a contract price to consider, this will be more cost-effective in the long run. If your system fails due to a lack of maintenance, there is a risk that you will be faced with some pretty hefty costs. These could be related to legal costs if someone puts in a claim against you or could also be related to repair costs should your property be stolen, damaged or otherwise require repair and replacement.
What’s more, if you don’t maintain your system and simply wait for it to fail, you will likely be faced with a large bill for repairs. These repairs can all be avoided by scheduling in a regular maintenance visit.
What Are The Benefits Of A Maintenance Contract?
At BAC Fire and Security, we offer a complex maintenance contract that covers all aspects of system maintenance. We pride ourselves on delivering a top-quality service that not only gives you excellent peace of mind but also comes with a wealth of other benefits.
Service Reports
We want you to feel secure in the knowledge that your system is in excellent working order. As such, we provide you with service reports every time we complete a maintenance check or service. These reports allow you to see what, if any, work has been completed and will also serve as an official document for times when you need to prove that your system has been regularly maintained.
What’s more, our engineers complete these reports to the standards of BAFE and SSAIB so you can feel confident that your system is fully compliant.
Fewer Failures
The last thing that anyone wants is for their system to fail at the worst moment. Your security and fire systems are there to protect you and your property but if they are not maintained, they may not always be able to do that. With regular maintenance checks and repairs, you can sleep safe in the knowledge that your system is incredibly unlikely to fail.
Degradation Reports
What’s more important is that this will also allow you to factor in any future updates to your budget. You will also have a better idea of when your system may need replacing and this, once again, can be more effectively budgeted, avoiding surprise costs down the line.
Peace Of Mind
Keeping your home or business safe and secure can be a bit of a headache when you are using equipment that isn’t reliable. But when you take out a maintenance contract, you will have the peace of mind that your system is fully functional and won’t let you down.
If you have to go away or can’t be at your property for some time, you can spend that time away feeling confident that your fire or security system has got your back!

What If The Systems Were Installed By Another Company?
While BAC is fully qualified and accredited to design and install security and fire alarm systems, we know that you may already have a system in place that was installed by another company. But don’t worry, we are able to take over the maintenance of your system and provide you with the same level of support that we offer to customers whose systems have been installed by us.
However, since every system is different, we will need to visit your property prior to taking you on as a client. One of our expert surveyors will come out to you and look over your existing system. This visit is totally free of charge and will allow us to provide you with a bespoke quote to cover your needs. It is important to keep in mind that your system may need to be unlocked in order for us to complete emergency repairs but if it is not already unlocked, BAC’s engineers will be able to do this for you for a small additional charge.
